A Momina Skincare Moment: Maskeraide Beauty
If I’ve realized anything in the past few years, especially during this pandemic, it’s the importance of taking care of my skin. Between wearing makeup, sun exposure, pollution and environmental changes, and just the stress of everyday life-- my skin often takes the toll. However, I don’t always have the time to give myself the love it deserves. I’m so glad I discovered Maskeraide Beauty and their quick, ready to use face masks to give my skin some much needed TLC even on the busiest days.
Maskeraide is a Canadian-based and Korean-made skincare brand that aims on bringing fun, innovation, and effectiveness to all their lifestyle based products. All their products are inspired by K-Beauty trends and are targeted for all skin types.
The amazing team at Maskeraide were so kind to gift me 2 of their best selling products to try out and share my honest thoughts. The two masks are called Pineapple Brightening Jelly Mask and Matcha Detoxifying Clay Mask. Both of these wash off masks come in two size options -- one with 3 uses which is perfect for traveling and a larger option with 12 uses. The masks are individually portioned and ready to use at any time.
As soon as I opened the package, I was instantly drawn to the vibrant and picturesque packaging. I love when brands put in the extra effort into their product design and you can definitely see it with all of Maskeraide’s products.
Pineapple Brightening Jelly Mask
I tried out the Pineapple Brightening Jelly Mask first and I’m really impressed. The jelly mask claims to smoothen, hydrate, and promote skin shine and elascity. Some of the key ingredients are pineapple, coconut water, niacinamide, and sweet cherry extract which are all free of parabens, benzophenones, and artificial fragrances. Both pineapple and ninacdeme have hydrating and brightening properties and are amazing to help build a strong and healthy skin barrier.
My skin was drier than normal and had been looking and feeling dull so I thought it would be the perfect time to try this mask as it is suggested for normal to dry skin. As soon as I applied the mask, I could feel the cooling and nourishing effect of the coconut water. The jelly consistency was incredibly fun on my skin but I did feel a tingling sensation for the first few minutes. After about 10 minutes I rinsed the mask off and instantly noticed how hydrated and nourished my skin felt. My skin didn’t look that bright or shiny right after washing however when I woke up the next morning, I noticed a huge difference! My skin felt and looked so bright and glowy. I have been using this mask two times a week at night and I love how smooth it has skin feeling the next morning.
Matcha Detoxifying Clay Mask
I am a huge fan of clay masks! Over the years I have tried out many brands so I was really looking forward to seeing how the Maskeraide clay mask would compare. As someone with normal to dry skin, I know most people would recommend staying away from clay masks as they can dry out your skin even more. But this clay mask does the exact opposite with it’s gentle and hydrating ingredients including kaolin clay, peach, and lychee. I am honestly so impressed with the results!!
The Matcha Detoxifying Clay Mask claims to rid the skin of any unwanted impurities and build-ups and promotes smooth and supple skin. As the name suggests, matcha and kaolin clay are two of the key ingredients in this mask. Matcha has many anti-inflammatory and anti-fungal properties which help to even skin tone, reduce acne, and increase skin elasticity. Kaolin clay absorbs all the gunk and excess sebum from your skin but it’s not as absorbent as other clays so it is gentle for the skin and is perfect for people with dry skin.
I applied this beautiful green mask in an even layer over my face and neck for about 10 minutes. Most clay masks I’ve tried previously tighten and crack which make it difficult to speak, but this felt really comfortable on my skin. I was so surprised and happy with the instant results I noticed as soon as I rinsed it off. This mask did the trick by detoxifying all the buildup and texture on my skin, especially around my nose and lips. My pores were instantly minimized and the puffiness around my cheeks and eyes had reduced thanks to the high vitamin K content. My skin felt like it had been deeply cleansed and was so smooth, fresh, and hydrated. I may be a little biased but this is now my favorite mask and I have been using it 3-4 times a week.
The only downside I noticed with these products was the use of single-use plastic as the face masks are portioned for one time use. And while I did like the convenience of having the masks individually portioned, I think having another more sustainable packaging option such as a glass jar or container with the product would be more environmentally-friendly.
Overall, I am really impressed with both of these face masks and have already begun incorporating them into my weekly skincare routine.
